This debate about the new beta version that Google announced a few days ago on Google Desktop 3 is very interesting - but not really a good sign for us!
As I understand it, Private data will be recorded on Google servers for 30 days. Our claim for warranties concerning Search Engine must be such a funny cry!
I will try to be as short and complete as possible:
- In Direct Marketing, we try to move to opt-in relation.
- Blogs and RSS technologies are an answer to this need - and that is one of the reasons why we love them.
- On this blog, I try to explain why we need warranties about accessing to data and information.
- And this nice company is proposing me to let me less and less warranties about my privacy.
With Google search policy, some repressive governments are allowed to block access to what they arbitrary define as illegal material. With Google Desktop 3, they have got a bonus pack! Now, they can identify some erased draft for 30 days. Who can ask for more?
I am sure about one thing: It will probably take more than 100 days, but we will have to find some ethical companies we can trust. It seems that Yahoo! is aware of this need. I am glad for that: we will ask for details about their Beliefs.
